About the Burnie SHow & Agri-Expo
The Burnie Show & Agri-Expo is a long-running community event run by volunteers through the Burnie Agricultural and Pastoral Society. With more than a century of show history, the event continues to celebrate agriculture, local talent, family entertainment and the people who help bring the show to life each year.
Powered by Volunteers
The Burnie Show & Agri-Expo is run by the Burnie Agricultural and Pastoral Society (BAPS).
BAPS is a not-for-profit organisation run solely by volunteers. The show is planned, prepared and delivered by people who give their time, skills and energy to keep this important community event running.
Volunteer work happens well before show day. Tasks include planning, site preparation, administration, promotion, sponsorship support, exhibitor coordination, setting up displays, assisting at the gate, supporting visitors and helping with the many practical jobs across the grounds.
The success of the show depends on community support. Every person who volunteers, enters an exhibit, books a site or offers sponsorship contributes to the future of the Burnie Show & Agri-Expo.
A Community Show with Agricultural Roots
The Burnie Show & Agri-Expo has been bringing the community together for more than a century.
The event began through the work of local farmers and businesspeople who formed the Burnie Agricultural and Pastoral Society in 1913. With limited flat land available close to town, a site at Wivenhoe was chosen and prepared for the first Grand Spring Show, held in September 1914.
From those early beginnings, the show became an important community gathering — a place to celebrate agriculture, livestock, local skills, handcrafts, exhibits and entertainment.
In 2019, the Burnie Show marked its 100th event and moved to its current home at Agriplex, Romaine. The move gave the show more room to grow while continuing the agricultural and community traditions that have been central to the event since the beginning.
Today, the Burnie Show & Agri-Expo continues to grow and adapt, with animals, competitions, exhibits, food, rides, entertainment, vendors, displays and family fun for all ages.

The Burnie Agricultural & Pastoral Society is guided by a board and committee who work throughout the year to plan and deliver the show.
