The 2025 Burnie Show High School Battle of the Bands – Terms and Conditions

Eligibility

  1. All participating band members must be currently enrolled and actively studying at a recognised high school or college.

  2. Band members must not be serving any disciplinary action, such as suspension.

  3. Proof of enrollment (e.g. student ID) may be requested at check-in.

  4. Bands must consist of a minimum of two (2) members and a maximum of eight (8).

Registration and Entry

  1. Entry is free for participating band members only. Any additional friends, family, or support crew will be required to pay the standard entry fee, unless otherwise specified.

  2. All bands must register before the closing date. Late entries will not be accepted.

  3. Changes to band line-ups must be submitted in writing prior to the event and are subject to approval.

Performance Rules

  1. Each band shall perform 2 original songs and 1 cover song.

  2. Bands are responsible for tuning and setup within their allocated time.

  3. Alll lyrics and content must be appropriate for a family-friendly, all-ages audience.

  4. Offensive or discriminatory content, language or behaviour will result in immediate disqualification.

Judging

  1. Bands will be judged based on criteria including musical ability, originality, stage presence, and audience engagement.

  2. The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence or appeal will be entered into.

Conduct and Safety

  1. All participants must follow the directions of event staff and comply with venue rules and safety procedures at all times.

  2. Any damage to equipment or the venue caused by a band may result in disqualification and liability for costs.

Media and Promotions

  1. By participating in the event, all band members consent to being photographed, filmed, or recorded by event staff or judges.

  2. All photos, video footage, and audio recordings may be used by the organisers for promotional purposes across social media, digital platforms, printed materials, and other media, without compensation or further consent.

Liability

  1. The event organisers take no responsibility for any loss, theft, or damage to instruments, equipment, or personal belongings.

  2. The event organisers accept no liability for any injuries, illnesses, or accidents that may occur before, during, or after the event.

General Conditions

 

  1. The organisers reserve the right to make changes to the event schedule, judging panel, or venue if required.

  2. Any failure to adhere to these terms and conditions may result in disqualification from the competition.

  3. By entering, participants acknowledge and accept all terms and conditions listed above.
